One of the things I love most about photography is meeting those people who you KNOW will have an impact on your life. Serenity and Mike are most definitely those people. So when they asked me for a special couples photography session for their 10th anniversary, I was over the moon excited!
I met Mike through another photography event I held about two years ago. Through that, I had the pleasure to photograph his family twice as their children grew. I can’t say enough how incredibly sweet both Mike and Serenity are… genuinely salt of the earth kind of people. They are incredibly warm and so stinkin’ easy to talk to, there’s never a lull in conversation.
For this session, Serenity originally asked if they could update their family photos before I moved to Florida. Obviously, the answer was of course! A few weeks later, she contacted me floating the idea of a 10th anniversary session instead. She wanted those romantic pictures that they hadn’t had before… annnnnnd then she told me they wanted to end the session with something “different”: couple’s yoga poses! Yes, this is how fun they are!
We decided on Talon Winery in Lexington, KY and they were picture perfect when they showed up. Can you believe Serenity told me they’re “awkward” in photos??? I mean, really? In all of the couples photography sessions I’ve done, these have to be the most genuine and loving smiles I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t help but swoon over the way they look at each other! Heart. Melting. I can only hope Clay and I are that “awkward” after 10 years of marriage. After traipsing all over the winery, and a quick wardrobe change, we headed to the lake for the much-anticipated (by me at least) couple’s yoga! That’s when Serenity told me that they had never done this before. They’d only been practicing for a week! Holy Hannah! I couldn’t believe it. And they knocked. it. out.
Mike and Serenity are definitely one reason I will miss Lexington.
