Our Hawaii Christmas

I think it’s probably about time I told you guys about a little trip Clay and I took this past December. I know, I know… it’s June. But hey. I’ve been busy! Back before Christmas, we ventured out to Honolulu to see my sister, brother-in-law, and their cute as pie kids. Man, oh, man… From Fort Lauderdale to Honolulu. That is a looooooooong travel day! We left FLL at 10:30am and flew to LAX. After a 3 hour layover, we finally boarded the plane to Honolulu. After a 6 hour flight, and 14 hours total, we got our necks hugged by our adorable nieces and nephew.

We had a pretty chill day following, allowing us to get caught up to Hawaii time, 6 hours behind Florida… and because we knew we were going to try to cram in as much family fun time as possible in the next week.

We went to Pearl Harbor… the day prior to the anniversary ceremony. And although I knew I’d feel some emotions, never did I think I’d be crying through the boat tour and by the end of the museum. It was incredibly moving. If you get the chance to go, DO IT!

We also ventured out to the Dole Plantation and rode the Pineapple Express. The entire grounds are BEAUTIFUL… and shockingly, they grow so much more than pineapple. And did you know pineapple grow from the ground? I don’t know why I always assumed they grew in trees. And for the rest of my life, give me all the Dole Whip. Just forever. Forgive the cellphone photos… I managed to grab like 4 with my actual camera.

And that hike at Diamond Head. It wasn’t the toughest of hikes, for most, but my trooper of a sister carried her almost 2 year old daughter all the way up and all the way back down… like a boss. Followed by more FRESH smoothies. Man, the fruit there is delicious.

We even got to spend time making Christmas cookies with those sweet babies! Well, my sister is VERY much the baker. So she made the cookies. Clay and I just helped to cut them out, while I also made elephant noises with the kids. I’m not sure why they love it so much, but they do. So I stick my arm out there like a trunk and they follow right along. We had a ridiculous amount of fun and leaving was the worst. 2 out of 3 kids cried (the other wanted to go to the zoo… haha). But, we’re already planning our trip back this coming December. With more adventures and more sun!
